Special Guest: No More 9 to 5 Club, CEO - Jason McNamara [Episode 30]

Updated: Apr 14

What happens when a Caribbean-born kid from South Florida, raised by a single mom, joins the military, becomes a high-performing prison guard at Guantanamo Bay, and eventually decides he wants more out of life than a paycheck and PTO?

You get Jason McNamara, the powerhouse behind the No More 9 to 5 Club and Foundation.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Jason recently, and let me tell you—it was more than just a podcast. It was a masterclass in resilience, leadership, and the pursuit of true freedom.

🧠 From Military Ranks to Mindful Entrepreneurship

Jason’s story starts with grit. Raised in a lower-income neighborhood, he witnessed early on what paths not to take. That clarity led him to join the Navy, where he served honorably—even taking on high-pressure roles in Guantanamo Bay assisting with detainee operations and CIA interrogations.

But despite a decorated military career (including two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals), Jason knew he wanted out. He didn’t want to spend two decades serving someone else’s mission—he wanted to build his own.

🌱 The Awakening: When HOA Rules Spark Big Dreams

Jason’s first civilian job helping veterans find employment with the State of Florida lit a fire. But what really pushed him toward entrepreneurship? A denied request to plant an orange tree in his own yard. That small "no" became a big "hell yes" to a new life.

After rising through the ranks in door-to-door and residential sales—eventually becoming the #1 sales rep at the nation’s largest family-owned pest control company—Jason hit another wall. His paycheck didn’t reflect the millions he was bringing in. That’s when he knew: it was time to go all in on himself.

🚨 Mistakes, Betrayal, and the Power of Speaking Up

Success didn’t come without scars. Jason candidly shared how he trusted the wrong people—partners who wound up facing felony charges and stealing six figures from the business. But instead of letting that break him, he leveled up.

His advice?

“If something feels off, speak up. Don’t wait. Don’t let someone’s low vibration steal your light—or your minutes.”

🔧 Building the No More 9 to 5 Ecosystem

What started as a way to teach financial literacy evolved into a full-blown entrepreneurship ecosystem. Through the No More 9 to 5 Club, Jason offers:

  • Free and low-cost memberships with access to virtual masterminds and mentorship

  • A full “business in a box” setup for aspiring entrepreneurs (CRM, websites, automations, VA team—you name it)

  • Veteran-specific support, including free lifetime access to PTSD-focused programs like Mind Trainer Pro

  • Paid internships for virtual assistants (including single mothers abroad) to skill up and earn remotely

This isn’t just a club—it’s a movement.

🧘‍♂️ Mind Trainer Pro: A Non-Traditional Approach to Brain Health

Partnering with brain entrainment engineer Maurice Elkovich, Jason co-created Mind Trainer Pro, a digital tool that uses affirmations and neural tone therapy to rewire thought patterns. It’s especially powerful for those managing PTSD or stress.

And the best part? Veterans get it for free.

As someone who studied cognitive behavioral neuroscience and worked in TBI and PTSD recovery at the VA, I was genuinely intrigued by how this tool blends emerging science with practical, accessible delivery. The feedback? Life-changing.

💼 Final Thoughts: You Don’t Have to Do It All

Jason closed with a reminder that every entrepreneur needs to hear:

“Even if you can do it all, doesn’t mean you should. Focus on your zone of genius—and delegate the rest.”

Whether you’re a veteran looking for direction, a single parent with entrepreneurial dreams, or just someone sick of trading your time for money, the No More 9 to 5 Club offers a way out—and a way up.

💬 Final Words from Jason:

“The quality of your thoughts determines the quality of your life. Don’t let anyone steal your minutes. Not in traffic. Not in business. Speak up. Show up. And build a life you don’t need a vacation from.”
